About Ylläs / Getting to Ylläs

Ylläs is Finland's largest ski-resort located 115km above the Arctic Circle in Lapland.

The destination is embedded in the beautiful scenery of the 7 fells with the nearby Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. The 719 meter high Ylläs fell overlooks Finland’s largest network for downhill and cross-country skiing. There are more than 300 km cross-country skiing tracks (whereof 38 km illuminated – literally next to our chalet), 60 different slopes on either side of the fell and more than 410 km of tracks for snowmobiles. The Ylläs fell is also the starting point for exciting downhill rides in the Ylläs Bike Park and for hikes with exciting views of the unique scenery. There are multiple outdoor activities in Ylläs all-around-the year. The destination’s slogan „Ylläs is number one!“ does not come by chance. Discover Ylläs 8 seasons!

The resort can be reached by plane to Kittilä or Rovaniemi. The Kittilä Airport (KTT) is only 36km from Ylläsjärvi, Finnair operates flights from Helsinki throughout the year. There are also direct international flights during the winter season. The Airport Bus runs between Kittilä and Ylläsjärvi throughout the year. Off-season, the Airport Bus is replaced by a shuttle service, which must be booked in advance. Car rental, taxi or charter mini bus services are available at the airport.

The Kolari Railway Station is 35km away and offers direct bus connection for every train (“The Train Bus”). Other options to get to Ylläsjärvi from Kolari Railway Station are the local taxi and car rental services. There are regular train connections from Southern Finland. The night train is a convenient and exciting way to travel to Ylläs, with or without your car. The night passes fast while you are sleeping in your own cabin. In winter, the night train runs almost every night, whereas in spring and summer time there are approximately four weekly connections. Train tickets can be booked directly from the Finnish railways.

You can get around in Ylläs without car. The Ylläs SkiBus operating in the whole Ylläs resort from late November to early May stops near the chalet (220 m). You can hop on and off alongside the route. The SkiBus brings you for example to the close Ylläsjärvi ski centre with its restaurant and service offer, to the local grocery shop Eelin Kauppa and it also connects the two villages Ylläsjärvi and Äkäslompolo where more restaurants, shopping possibilities and services are available. The illuminated cross-country ski-track is literally next door to the chalet. Alternatively local taxi services (Jounin Taxi, Lapland Taxi) can be booked.
